Is it true the G-20 Summit is a dangerous event?

Its not just a parade or celebration where people celebrate and get rowdy but THEY GET VIOLENT AND ACTUALLY INVOLVE HATE CRIMES?!! Why do they even have an event if it is dangerous and leads to violent protestors that puts mobs in place?
