Anyone know much about the panasonic lumix g1?

Your manual might explain why the aperture number on your screen lights up (have you tried reading it?). Maybe there is not enough light for the aperture you want to use. For example, on my old film camera, the aperture in my viewfinder blinks red when there is not enough light or the shutter speed is too fast.
